Battery storage and smart software to optimize charging
The installation combines a 250 kW grid connection, a 110 kW / 220 kWh battery energy storage system, and a 200 kW DC charger equipped with two charging points for heavy-duty trucks. Operated by Decade Energy’s proprietary energy management software, the station optimizes in real time the use of electricity from the public grid or stored energy, based on electricity prices, charging demand, and site constraints.
The principle is simple: the battery stores electricity when conditions are most favorable, then makes it available to charge trucks according to the site’s needs. When it is not being used for charging, the stored energy can also contribute to the flexibility of the electricity system, further strengthening the infrastructure’s business model.
The current installation could supply around 140 MWh of electricity per year — equivalent to 140,000 electric kilometers driven by heavy-duty trucks each year.
