Meet the Team: Alexandre Cleret - COO & Co-Founder

Paris, France, Thursday 10 July 2025

Summary

  • Previously: Developed and financed over €250m in renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, BESS, green hydrogen and electric trucks infrastructure.
  • At Decade Energy: Oversees our IPP activity including development, financing construction and operations of BESS and charging infrastructure projects, while contributing to strategy to drive scalable decarbonization.
  • Why it matters: Alexandre brings a hands-on, systems-level approach to building the backbone of electrification, helping turn long-term climate goals into actionable progress.

From development to financing to construction to operations, Alexandre Cleret is right at the center of it at Decade Energy, making sure things move in the right direction.

As our Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Alexandre leads our IPP team which covers: Sales, Infrastructure, Financing and Energy Markets teams. He also plays a key role in shaping company strategy, ensuring that Decade Energy moves toward its mission.

From Launching Companies to Reshaping Energy Systems

Before co-founding Decade Energy, Alexandre built a career at the intersection of entrepreneurship and energy. He’s scaled high-growth teams, structured complex financing deals and led the development of over €250 million worth of renewable energy projects, spanning wind, solar, battery storage (BESS) and green hydrogen.

Alexandre has worked across a range of large-scale projects, from supporting the rollout of electric trucks and charging infrastructure to developing a 132MW wind farm in Poland that replaced coal-fired generation, contributing directly to Europe’s CO2 reduction.

“It’s one thing to talk about reducing emissions,” he says, “it’s another to help make it happen, megawatt by megawatt.”

Why Decade Energy, Why Now

For Alexandre, Decade Energy brings together everything he’s passionate about: renewable energy, electric mobility and building companies that scale fast.

“27% of EU emissions come from energy. 24% come from transport. That’s more than half, and it’s where the real work needs to happen,” he explains.

“Decade Energy gives me a chance to combine everything I’ve worked on and go all-in on impact.”

He’s clear-eyed about the urgency: “We’re in the middle of an unstoppable transition. Renewables, BESS, EVs – they will take over. The question is how fast. Speed matters.”

Tackling the Next Big Challenge

When it comes to decarbonization, Alexandre sees one critical blind spot: depots. These logistical hubs are set to become some of the biggest energy consumers in Europe, but most of them aren’t ready for what’s coming.

“Depots are where transport and energy intersect. They’re the frontline of the EV transition,” he says. “At Decade Energy, we’re helping make them electrification-ready, quickly and cost-effectively.”

What Drives Him, In and Outside of the Office

Alexandre has been focused on the energy transition since 2018, when he decided to shift his career towards work that directly supports decarbonization. “This is my life mission,” he says, and a commitment that’s shaped his path ever since.

Colleagues describe him as thoughtful, driven, and open-minded, with a steady focus on what’s ahead. Outside of work, he enjoys cycling, spending time with his family and wingfoiling when the conditions are right. He’s also a certified sailing skipper – a skill that reflects his love of being out on the water and navigating with intention.

Flexibility Is Not an Option

As renewables reshape the grid, flexibility becomes the backbone of stability. By 2050, France will need five times more of it, and transport depots could provide half, turning into powerful...
