Meet the Team: Aymeric Leenhardt - VP Business Development

Paris, France, Tuesday September 2025

Summary

  • Previously: Started in finance at Amundi in Hong Kong, then joined Watèa (Michelin) to help companies electrify their fleets.
  • At Decade Energy: Leads Business Development, building partnerships to deploy battery storage, EV charging and smart energy systems.
  • Why it matters: Fleet electrification faces power bottlenecks and Aymeric works on solutions that make it scalable, reliable and cost-effective.

At Decade Energy, the shift to electrified depots doesn’t just happen through technology, it’s about people building the right partnerships to make it work.

That’s where Aymeric Leenhardt comes in. As VP Business Development, he spends his days connecting with real estate and transport companies to equip depots with the energy infrastructure they need to stay competitive in the future. Think battery storage, EV chargers and the systems that tie it all together. His focus is on making sure their energy strategy matches real operational needs and long-term sustainability goals.

From Finance to Fleet Electrification

Aymeric didn’t start out in energy. After five years of studies in Scotland, he moved to Hong Kong to kick off his career in finance at Amundi, working in institutional sales. Three years later, he returned to France and made the leap into e-mobility: joining Watèa, a Michelin subsidiary, where he supported companies in electrifying their fleets.

Being part of Watèa from its early days was a defining experience. “I’m proud of how quickly we grew,” he says. “Helping build the team, shaping the culture, and supporting clients in their transition taught me a lot about scaling innovative solutions in a complex ecosystem.”

“Energy management is at the heart of the transport transition, and I love the agility and impact of building something from the ground up.”
Why Decade Energy, Why Now?

For Aymeric, joining Decade Energy came down to the people and the mission. “The founding team’s vision really struck me,” he says. “Energy management is at the heart of the transport transition, and I love the agility and impact of building something from the ground up.”

He sees a huge challenge - and opportunity - in solving the power bottleneck at logistics sites. “As fleets electrify, limited grid capacity risks slowing everything down. At Decade Energy, we tackle that head-on by deploying battery storage and smart energy management systems. It’s how we make electrification scalable, reliable and cost-effective.”

“The challenges are significant – power availability, grid constraints, rising costs – but so are the opportunities,”
Looking Ahead

Aymeric is excited about the convergence of energy and mobility, a transformation he believes is only just beginning. “The challenges are significant - power availability, grid constraints, rising costs - but so are the opportunities,” he says. “E-mobility is a key lever: it reduces operating costs, optimizes energy use and accelerates the shift to cleaner fleets. It’s a sector where we can create real value for businesses while driving meaningful environmental impact.”

On a personal level, Aymeric is driven by the belief in Europe’s energy sovereignty - reducing oil dependency and building resilience across the board.

Life Outside Logistics

Around the office, teammates describe Aymeric as dynamic and collaborative, someone who brings energy and positivity to the team. Outside of work, he’s usually on a tennis or golf court, or exploring new places with friends. “Traveling helps me reset and stay curious,” he says.

Flexibility Is Not an Option

As renewables reshape the grid, flexibility becomes the backbone of stability. By 2050, France will need five times more of it, and transport depots could provide half, turning into powerful...
