Meet the Team: Baptiste Perlin - VP of Infrastructure

Paris, France, Tuesday 10 June 2025

Summary

  • Previously: EDF (nuclear development), Akuo (renewables projects across solar, wind, storage), and Hype (green hydrogen in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean).
  • At Decade Energy: Leads the development, deployment, and operation of renewable infrastructure, ensuring projects are well-structured, de-risked and built to scale.
  • Why it matters: Baptiste’s cross-sector expertise turns complex energy systems into real-world solutions that accelerate electrification where it’s needed most.

At Decade Energy we’re building the infrastructure to support the next era of mobility and energy. Baptiste Perlin, our VP of Infrastructure is at the center of that work: leading the development of battery energy storage systems (BESS), EV charging networks and solar power installations.

He oversees the full project lifecycle from feasibility and technical design to commissioning and operations, ensuring every site is efficiently designed, strategically de-risked and successfully implemented for the long term.

Navigating Complex Energy Projects Across Continents

Baptiste brings over a decade of hands-on experience across the energy sector. He began his career at EDF working on next-generation nuclear reactors before moving into oil and gas and eventually renewables. Over the years he’s managed solar, wind, storage and green hydrogen projects across Europe, Asia and the Caribbean.

Having been involved in the full lifecycle of energy projects gives him a sharp sense for risk management, systems design and how to navigate the realities of infrastructure rollouts, across both mature and emerging markets. He’s particularly skilled at de-risking projects early, structuring them to scale and preparing them for real-world execution. Critical to scaling sustainable energy solutions.

The Power of Decentralized Renewables and BESS

One of the projects Baptiste is most proud of is an electrification initiative in Indonesia, where he helped bring sustainable electricity to three remote villages disconnected from the national grid. The project installed photovoltaic power plants coupled with the world’s first grid-forming BESS technology, enabling 24/7 access to clean and reliable electricity.

This not only improved quality of life for the local communities but also demonstrated the power of decentralized renewable energy and storage to deliver energy access where it’s needed most.

Why Decade Energy, Why Now

For Baptiste joining Decade Energy was about more than a new role. It was about building something from the ground up. “The opportunity to help shape and drive the development of a new company in such a fast-evolving sector is both challenging and rewarding,” he says.

With Europe’s energy transition accelerating he saw a clear need: infrastructure that doesn’t wait for perfect conditions but solves the hard problems now. Challenges like limited grid access and high total cost of ownership are slowing the electrification of transport, and Decade Energy is tackling them head-on.

"The transition to an electrified world is inevitable. Every project we deliver brings that future closer. My goal is to contribute as much as possible to making that future a reality, sooner rather than later.”

From strategic site selection to robust technical planning, Baptiste is leading the rollout of Decade Energy’s first battery and charging assets. These early projects are designed to be scalable, modular and efficient, setting the tone for a continent-wide infrastructure platform to power the electric transition.

A Reliable Force (On the Road and in the Field)

What drives Baptiste’s work is a clear sense of purpose. In France and across Europe, electric mobility is often misunderstood or underestimated. But he sees it differently: not just as a technical solution, but as a way to improve everyday life in cities by reducing air and noise pollution.

That belief fuels his work at Decade Energy: demonstrating the real-world benefits of clean infrastructure through projects that deliver on performance and sustainability.

On the team, Baptiste is known for his calm, reliable approach. Colleagues describe him as serious, methodical, and focused on getting things done. Someone who brings people together to deliver results.

Outside of work, you'll either find him off cycling and exploring nature, deep in a book, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
