From EVs to Carbon Markets to Storytelling
Gia’s career in climate has always been about helping clients achieve measurable financial returns while creating positive impact for the planet. She started as an Energy & Transportation Consultant, guiding retail and logistics companies through climate adaptation planning, from quantifying emissions reductions with EV infrastructure to managing compliance with international transport standards.
That work naturally evolved into the carbon markets. As compliance frameworks grew, so did voluntary ones, and one project after another led her to Anew Climate, North America’s largest environmental asset management firm. There, she oversaw key accounts across both compliance and voluntary carbon markets. While much of her work was rooted in asset management and technical advisory for EV and charging infrastructure projects, her role quickly expanded into strategic sales and marketing. She found herself not only guiding clients through market participation, but also helping them communicate their climate achievements in ways that resonated with stakeholders. That’s when she realized the power of strategic storytelling, a thread she has carried into her work ever since.
In parallel, Gia founded and led a nonprofit focused on environmental justice education for youth. With a team of nine and a community of over 10,000, the organization created in-school programs and digital learning to equip young people with the tools to act on climate in their communities. The work was spotlighted at UN COP18, COP19 and the City of Los Angeles, amongst others.
Reflecting on her work across these different roles, Gia says:
