At Decade Energy, we’re building the infrastructure to support the next era of logistics electrification.
As Business Development Executive, Octavio Martin plays a central role in expanding our mission: by identifying the right opportunities, shaping high-impact projects and forging the partnerships that will allow Decade to scale a new generation of flexibility assets across Europe.
His work sits at the crossroads of commercial strategy, technical understanding, and climate ambition, ensuring every project we pursue is not only feasible, but transformative for the grid and the customers we serve.
Octavio’s interest in energy started early, driven by a clear conviction that the sector is one of the strongest levers for shaping the world of tomorrow. That belief pushed him toward roles where technology, finance and climate intersection: renewable energy solutions have real impact beyond the theoretical.
Before joining Decade Energy, he worked at Zenobe, where he developed a deep appreciation for the power of battery energy storage (BESS). He contributed to projects such as Blackhillock, Kilmarnock South and Eccles, among the largest storage sites in Europe.
“It was a unique moment in the sector, seeing storage evolve from a niche technology to a strategic grid asset. Being part of that shift shaped how I think about energy systems.”
Later, at AENU and LITA, Octavio shifted to the investment side of the transition, developing theses in key decarbonization areas such as flexibility, home electrification, and storage. He helped assess and structure close to 100 MW of renewable projects, gaining a long-term view of what makes climate infrastructure both financially viable and scalable.
This dual exposure of hands-on development and rigorous investment analysis now informs the way he evaluates opportunities at Decade Energy: combining ambition with technical and financial realism.
For Octavio, joining Decade Energy was about aligning with a vision he sees as both urgent and achievable.
“Decade Energy has a pragmatic view of the future. The solutions exist. We just need to deploy them smarter, faster and in the right locations.”
What particularly resonated with him is Decade Energy’s dual approach:
Vehicle-to-grid (V2G), smart charging, distributed batteries, and intelligent aggregation, he says, will redefine the energy landscape.“These assets, when orchestrated together, can turn EV fleets and depots from grid challenges into grid resources. The potential is huge.”
On the team, colleagues describe Octavio as analytical, thoughtful and ambitious - someone who sees both the macro vision and the detailed work needed to deliver it.
He’s excited to focus on execution: deepening relationships with clients, refining project models, and helping position Decade Energy as a European leader in flexibility.
“Few players combine technical expertise, agility, and ambition the way Decade Energy does. I’m here because I want to contribute to something real, something operational and something that moves the needle.”
Outside of work, Octavio is passionate about sailing. He has even crossed the Atlantic, a journey that taught him resilience, patience and the beauty of working in harmony with natural forces.
Being outdoors, whether on the sea or in the mountains, keeps him grounded and connected to the purpose behind the energy transition.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll share more about the people behind Decade Energy, on what they’ve done before, what brought them here and on their motivations and learnings so far.
Curious to connect, collaborate, or work with us? We’d love to hear from you.
